6 Antiquing Mama & Baby

I. heart. antiquing.  In the past couple of weeks I have gotten my antique fix with one for mama, and two for baby.

Check out that beauty on the far wall.  I've been looking for a unique mirror to fill my dining room with.  In downtown, I saw this mirror on the floor - speaking to me.

Originally priced for $49.95.  But, you know me - bargaining is one of my favorite things to do!

I ended up getting it for $30.00.  Totally worth it!  Should I paint it, though?  Sometimes it just hurts my heart to think about re-finishing an antique - I feel like the paint may make it look too new.

What do you think?

The next item I bought for Preston.  It's one of my favorite things in his nursery.  I've been seriously searching for something to go above Preston's changing table to keep him busy.  Lately he's been wanting to roll off of the changing table!  I needed something to occupy him.

In downtown - I found the perfect quirky shop that had this amazing guy and many more just like him.

We have named him Pete, but he is a Wupper Airline.  It's a group of wooden "toys" that fly on springs.  When they bounce on the spring, the strings make wings fly, airplane wings go, etc.  It's just one of the coolest things I've ever seen.  They are all wooden, handmade, and made in Germany.

Go check out some of the other Wupper Airlines that are available.  You may just want one for yourself!

See Pete flying from the ceiling?  Right over the changing table - it definitely keeps Preston always looking!
The rest of the pictures are part of a collection that we found on our Wilmington trip a few weeks back.

Our friend Scott found these delights way up high on the wall in one of our favorite antique stores on the block.

Check out the handmade awesomeness!!

Preston will now know the early cars rather than the Honda CRV in our driveway.

I definitely plan on painting the frames a new shade of black, but the handmade stitching is wonderful, and our collection only cost $25.00.  These will be perfect in the nursery.

Maybe Preston will pass them down to his son one day. :)

Whoever stitched these beautiful cars probably cherished them for their family or son, and I am so grateful to pass them on to mine.

As for painting your antique mirror, I love the cream color but I also LOVE refinishing antiques and making them my own!!! I can't wait to see what you're going to do with it!
